Have you tried to clear your clutter only to discover there’s no place to put anything away?
This cupboard holds fresh batteries, light bulbs, electrical cords, small household items and the occasional cleaning supplies we keep handy but do not use every day. That’s the theory. Instead, it’s become a catchall.
Countless times I’ve carried a new pack of light bulbs or batteries to the cupboard and opened it to find this mess. No more! While I’m on a back porch kick, I’m taking care of this cupboard once and for all.
I’ll start with that first shoe box. Here’s what’s in it.
The light bulbs, blinds duster and glue are the only items that belong on this top shelf where we can get at them easily. The large, round felt pads for moving furniture go in a tool box. The electronic pieces and electrical cables belong on a lower shelf in this cupboard.
That shelf is in total disarray. In this 15 minute session, I cannot clear it too. I decide to stash the electrical cords there, where they belong, knowing I will have to handle them again when I reorganize that shelf. They are home, and that’s a good thing.
Next, the plastic, stick-on hooks. How did we accumulate so many? I can Freecycle those, as well as the floor protectors that go under furniture legs. We don’t need them any more.
Whew! That took barely 15 minutes. I’m off to a good start clearing the clutter from this cupboard. What are you focusing on this week?
